Have you ever had a challenge in your district but weren’t sure how to solve it? Would you like to be given the time and structure to find a solution?
If your response is “YES!” then the Incubator of Networking and Change might be the place for you.
Connect-Experiment-Prototype
INC is for those who want to find and pilot innovative ideas that can benefit their district. If the solutions can be replicated elsewhere for a statewide impact, even better.
INC will work with teams. Those chosen will need to commit to the nearly year-long process. This starts with a two-day design thinking workshop that will guide team members into taking a deep dive into the challenge and building a structure for moving forward. The ideas that emerge will then be incubated through monthly online collaborations and periodic visits by veteran ALET members who have faced similar challenges. The process culminates with teams sharing their journeys and solutions at our 2020 Fall Symposium.
Is part of your challenge that you don’t have a team within your own district? Don’t worry, team members don’t need to be from the same system. Find out more about the criteria and commitment here. Applications are due July 1, 2019.
Criteria - Read Carefully Before Applying
Teams
- No fewer than 3 and no more than 5 people to a team.
- Team members are not required to work in the same district.
- Teams must have the support of the district technology director and superintendent.
- All team members must be able to attend the one-day fall workshop (September 23 during the Fall Symposium)

Application
- Teams must complete the online application by July 1, 2019.
- It is not necessary to have a complete plan in order to apply. The most important criteria is the problem or challenge to be solved. The design thinking process will help you with the solution.

Commitment
- If team is selected, each team member must commit to attend at least 5 of the 8 optional afternoon video conferences October- May.
- Teams must be willing to provide written updates and feedback to ALET Executive Board.
- Each team member must commit to attend the fall symposium, monthly video meetings, at least three on-site visits from members of ALET and the spokesperson will present the teams findings at the Fall Symposium of 2020.
Selection
- Teams will be evaluated based on the feasibility of their idea, the applicability to the district and/or state, and the overall impact of the solution.
- A maximum of five teams will be chosen to proceed with their project.
